INSURGENCY back cover

All artwork I did myself, stealing from movies. Front cover is from Copkiller. Back cover has police car pileup from Blues Brothers.

Insurgency live photo from lyric sheet

Lyric sheet with great live photo of the band that combines many great aspects of 1980s gigs: leather jackets, flannel shirts, metal guitars, and banging your head on the stage.

INSURGENCY – s/t 7″

This is the 1985 demo of the California band released on vinyl. I never had an official copy of the demo, but my friend John Ripcord put this on a tape he sent me in 1986. I was blown away and wrote to Brett, the guitarrist.

This EP was the second release on HeartFirst, the last that has mailorder prices on the back cover.

This is what the great Tim Yohannan wrote in the review of the cassette in MRR issue #33: “Very well-produced power thrash. This is hard-hitting, head-on, stop-and-go hardcore. No frills, no innovations, and lots of tight meat-cleaver stuff. Good lyrics, too.”

You can listen to remastered versions of the songs on Soundcloud, which the ex-band members put up. Looking back at the songs and their lenghts, I’m surprised how unusually long they were for that style. But even though they’re longer, they absolutely don’t get boring.
